High speed design ??

Can any one explain what is high speed design in PCB ?
is it the same as HDI ?

Re: High speed design ??

Hi,

Search Docs in this site and read it.

High speed design ??

I assume HDI is "High Density Interconnect", but HDI PCB is not necessarily a High Speed PCB.

You will find many useful information in the following ebooks:

High Speed Signal Propagation: Advanced Black Magic

High-Speed Digital Design: A Handbook of Black Magic

Digital Signal Integrity - Modeling and Simulation with Interconnects and Package

High-Speed Digital System Design: A Handbook of Interconnect Theory and Design Practices

Emc & the Printed Circuit Board: Design, Theory, & Layout Made Simple

High-Speed Circuit Board Signal Integrity

Signal Integrity Issues and Printed Circuit Board Design

Signal Integrity - Simplified

Re: High speed design ??

Dear nicleo,

I had a quick look to the references you listed,
it seems to me that all these books describe in details the problems of the
interconnection path (PCBs, VIAs, Interconnectors ...)

I have difficulties in finding some good reference on the high-speed IC technology (LVDS, CML ...).

Could you help me in giving some reference on the subject?

Thanks,

Satellite

Re: High speed design ??

I think if your signal's edge rate is less 2ns,

then you are design a high speed system.

best regards

Re: High speed design ??

Any digital design working above 200MHz system clock frequency is considered high-speed. Some designers claim 100MHz to 200MHz. But if you conform to Xilinx, Altera and HP-Agilent, 200MHz is a de facto.

Re: High speed design ??

High speed designing is related to the designing of Critical signals in your board. They can any be anyone either frequency dependent or impedance or length based or any other.
