We all know that sine wave is composed of fundamental components called harmonics.
If this is true then what is harmonics distortion,by above line it is clear that harmonics are "required thing" then why to eliminate them and why they cause distortion.

you mean pure sine wave is not composed of different sine and cosine waves as fourier series says for periodic wave forms.

I think you have mixed things up. Any waveform can be created by a sum of sine & cosine waves and their harmonics. A sine wave is just a sine wave - no harmonics.

If you add some harmonics to a sine wave it isn't a sine wave anymore, hence the need to minimise harmonic distortion.

No problem. I guess you could say a sine wave can also be described by the sum of sin/cosine waves and harmonics - it is just that the coefficients of all harmonics are zero.
