which connector used for usb host

which type of usb connector is used for usb host purpose. I have one usb connector i have attached, this connector having only 4 pins, but as per usb host connection required 5 pins that is d+,d-,vcc,gnd and ID.
so will it work if connect 4 pins (d+,d-,vcc and gnd)?
or i have to connect id too?

Read the "On-The-Go and Embedded Host Supplement" of a recent USB specificaction. It tells you about the purpose of ID pin.

In case of doubt, an USB host (e.g. your desktop or notebook computer) uses standard 4 pin Type A connectors without ID pin. Unless you are designing an OTG device, you won't think about ID pin.
