I want to design a baseband chip on telecommunication, which seems rather diffcult to describe with HDL directly.
What tools should I choose for algorithm simulation and verification?

use SPW ( Signal Processing Worksystem)

CoCentric System Studio from synopsys

use Matlab/Simulink or SPW to model the system.

perhaps yan can take MTLAB into account.

There is a good verification software pprovided by Sysnopsys called Telecomm workbench. It is a system-C package. It runs fast and has a lot of good features supporting Telecomm simulation.

use systemc.

Use systemc and you will see its usefulness. You can use many C++ properties for simulation and verification.
