hi iam new to backend.

wat is meant by

0.2 micron technology
0.4 micron technology

thanx advance

Re: doubt

This is the minimum width of the transister .

doubt

r u working wid this technology ?

Re: doubt

This is the minimum width of the transister .

thaks for ur reply...

width of what of a transistor ?

can u please explain further?
any material could be of great help

Re: doubt

hello 0.2 micron technology means it is the width of the transister.
width of the transister means gate width of the transister.
check the width of the gate of particular transister you are working.
you are under training or design engineer.

regards

Re: doubt

Min. width of the Transistor. It is 2L length in Backend Tools

Re: doubt

thanku all

well can u state wat is 90 nm 45 nm

can any one differentiate between these two terminologies?

doubt

90 nm is the feature size or the transistor length. This is the minimum lenght of a mask that a fab can manufacture for that technology.

Re: doubt

90nm and 45nm represents the gate length of the transistor. considering the 45nm, it is the minimum length that is required to realize the logic functions in the cmos.

Re: doubt

let me make my question clear

wat is the difference between the "nm (eg 90 45 etc etc)" and "micron(.2 .4 etc etc)"

is it that
90 or 45 nm means min gate length of the smallest transistor using that particular technology

and

.2 or .4 micron is min gate width of the particular transistor

?? please correct me.

Re: doubt

0.2 and 0.4 micron are nothing but 200nm and 400 nm technology. They were used some years ago...The latest is the 45nm technology..
