have anybody implemented USB protocol in embedded system?

Why can't we use FT232R which is a USB to serial UART interface?
Do you want to develope in Processor or controller or in FPGA?

i am using pic 24f controller with host capability in which i have to handle usb printer hp laserjet 1020. can u put some light on it.

i am not sure whether FT232R supports bidirectional USB proocol.
guys, nobody knows the USB protocol? pls help me.

i was able to communicate With my PC by RX & TX lines of FT232R.

FT232R supports bidirectional USB proocol

Give more infor mation on it?

hi ppdr,

FT232r is a rs-232 bridge, this will not work for u r application of interfacing to hp printer..
Bcoz printer is a USB device.. and FT232R also a device... and to interface device u need a host...

to interface to printer u probably don't need any IC, you need to have a connector on board to recive hp printer usb connector, since u have host functionality in u r controller, u need to add drivers for HP printer and start working..

thanks
Babesh..

thanks babesh. do you know where can i get USB knowledgebase?

Hi all

it sounds nice..
anyway, is there any body that have the FT232R chip foot print?
i want to make the PCB but i could not find the right foot print of this component..

thank's
(I use EAGLE)

please mail me at : acceph@yahoo.com

FT232R is available in 2 Packages as mentioned below
FT232RL -- 28-SSOP
FT232RQ -- 32-QFN
