I use excel to describe the configure registers and generate the verilog file automatically by VBA.

BR,
Jarod

Hi,

like jarodz I also use excel to describe registers.
I think excel is comfortable, because I can use excel features for describing the registers
like formulas for calculation of register addresses. Or conditional text based on a configurtion sheet. etc.

Different to jarodz I generate a self defined XML out of the xls data.
For me this has the advantage that different people can easily import this XML description.
Because for nearly every programming language there are XML reader package available.
So one generates verilog with a perl script, or software with a c++ reader. Also documentation can be generated, based on the XML.

I think you know this already
Accellera - SystemRDL
we looked into this, but it seems to be oversized for our needs.
I think for evaluation of blueprint you have to go there
