route_opt not routed to closest signal pins

Hi,

I am using route opt to route signals from buffers to pins using the following route_opt options

route_opt -effort high

There is predefined pin placed close to the buffer. However,it make a long route before connect to the pins. How can i control it so that it routed to closest pin?

and what is the error you are facing

The software i am using is IC compiler.
I am having setup violation and i believe it is due to long route (-ve slack).
