I'm looking for information(schematic) or a source for a High Voltage DC supply at approx. 35-40 KV. Unit needs to be light weight and powered by
batteries if possible. Weight is a big factor for my project. A pulsed DC HV supply would also be acceptable as even a better option if possible.
Help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

use a switched mode power supply for about 10kV os a simple cascade if youre not need high power - if you need pogh voltage and high power and fastest swiching, build a marx-generator.

the easiest way is using a tv hv transformer with a impulse circuit working at 100kHz or so ...
