It seems the most of this is related to Picstart, not Picstart Plus.

The schematic and PCB inside Picstart+.zip are in Protel format.
Can someone convert to OrCAD or, better, in a printable raster format (PDF, BMP or whatever ?)

Picstart

Hi

Thats kind of catch 22 with the firmware, if you do not have the picstart then it can be hard to program the chip. Perhaps you have a friend which can program it for you. There are other programmers for the 17C44 but they are as expencive so that is not an alternative. This is my opinnion but perhaps others can give an other answer.

Picstart

Hi

Not as far as I know, when I started to build picstart+ I checked for different programmers for the 17C44. And I did not find any that was small enough.

Picstart

Hi

Sorry that I cannot help but I have not finished my picstart yet. It is not the best solution but perhaps the only one that you buy the chip here

Re: Pic Start Plus Complete

I'm new one, and want to build it myself, is it difficult to find all the components in the market?

Re: Pic Start Plus Complete

Most of the components are easy to find. Maybe you'll have problem with DG411.
Does anyone has additional module for 18F8270 for newest Picstart Update?

You need 6 x DG411, but you can order them as free samples from Maxim: www.maxim-ic.com/samplescart.cfm
You can only order two samples of each part number, so the trick is to order two of each temperature (0°C to +70°C and -40°C to +85°C)range and the order samples of the MAX351 pin-compatible upgrade too.

If you want to order 8 of this IC in 16-pin DIP package just order these samples:

2 x MAX351CPE
2 x MAX351EPE
2 x DG411CJ
2 x DG411DJ

If you prefer the parts in SMD (16-pin Narrow SO) instead just order these parts:

2 x MAX351CSE
2 x MAX351ESE
2 x DG411CY
2 x DG411DY

You can leave one of the parts out since you only need 6 DG411 for PICSTART.

While you are at it, you might as well order MAX232 samples too, since you also need this IC for PICSTART.

You can order up to 8 x 2 samples at each order from Maxim.
