how do we overcome Reighley fading in a GSM mobile ? What device do we use?

Frequency hopping , 2 space separated receiver antennas , noise resistive data coding with interleaving .

multiple input multiple output - MIMO antennas

diversity is used to overcome the fades.
time diversity is done by using error control codes and then interleaving so that fade at different times are not related.
when frequency selective fading is present ofdm is used or in the case of rake receivers the energy in the different multipaths are obtained and then they are combined.
mimo is using spatial diversity

antenna diversity + EQUALIZER + channel codification

hi
good adaptive equalizer using estimator like rls,lms ,kalman filter to remove channel effects
