How can we auto-route the design making it single sided?

how can we auto route confining the design to be single sided.

Use TopoR http://www.freestyleteam.com/en/download/ Set 2-layers routing. After a while TopoR will find a variant where all tracks are on single layer.

depends on what software ur using, most u could specify which layers u wana route. example, in protel u could set this in the design rules. in orcad layout u go to layers manager. happy routing then..

As Mayu says, it's all dependant upon the auto router you want to use.

Just turn off the unwanted layers, stop it using via's etc.
