excess 3 code advantages

if it is asked that why excess code is used , and if i answer that using excess 3 code bcd subtractions involving 9 can be easily done , by just doing the 1's complement of the excess 3 code of the original number to be subtracted , then am i correct ?? is this aswer sufficient or there are any more points ?
