Class D amplifier structure?

class-d amplifier feedback theory

I see some papers about the classD with a feedback structure, The feedback signal is the pwm signal and connected back to a integrator, Could someone explain the function of the integrator, it is a nonlinear feedback system, I am not familiar with the nonlinear feedback theory, hope experts can help me, thanks!
