hello,

there are a lot of analog IC design books, and also analog IC design software..

but lets say one creates the schematic of analog IC, how can he fabricate it? of cuz not at home... does he have to send schematics to fabrication company and then they make the real chip?

how much does it cost to fabricate one chip for example?

so, as i see anyone can design and order any kind of microchip then?

thanks

first it's the idea , then the spec . when you have the schematic, you should transfer it to layout. then give the foundary the gds.

you may first be familiar with the IC design process, which can be found in many books.just look at it

After you have design the schematic..then it will be translated in a layout form verified correctly in accordance to the PDK rules then the FAB company like TSMC will make the chip.

The cost will depend on the process technology, size and number of chip you want.

You need to have the design kit first. Who you get this kit from will be where you send the gds file to. It can be a 3rd party to collect all designs and pass them to the fab.

Where did you get the models? You know, every foundry have its process, which have different models even they have same name or have the same size. As a result, if you want to manufacture your chip, you must select the foundry and get their PDK(process design kits) firstly, then you can make simulation.

Another question is not problem. You can make layout yourself or you can select some IC design house, some of which will provide the service transfer your schematic to layout and tape out the gds file. The gds file can be delivered to foundry, of course you need fufill some documents provided by foundry.

Good luck!
