Hello,

Recently, i saw some designs using several small blocks of memory instead of one large block to achieve the same capacity.

Can anyone explain that why this configuration is preferred?

e.g, instead of using two 4096x64bit RAM's, one could use 8192x128bit RAM. This way, user will acheive timings & area optimization.

But, why to achieve large capacity, several small memory blocks are preferred?

Thanks

this can be related to availablility of address lines in MCU or availability of particular chips to purchase
