What's the difference between VCO, VFO and PTO ?

What is VFO , and What's the difference bet. VCO, VFO and PTO ?
 

pto vfo

VFO-variable freq osc.
VCO- voltage controll osc
PTO-??? phase tuned maybe


the first two are basically the same, i guess, unless there is some other way of adjusting the freq, than with a varactor.
