Problem with writing into the mc of ISP programmer

guys,
I have a problem with my ISP programmer. actually my computer does not 'write' into the mc , however my pc is able to 'read' its contents...but the problem is that I have checked an ISP prog. of my friend which is running properly on another system but when I connected it with my pc , it is again not able to 'write' into the mc but can read properly...So I simply cant understand where is the problem...is my parallel port defective or what:?::?::?:

What your system?
Maybe you can try to set your parallel port in the same mode with your friend.
There are three modes: spp,epp,ecp.
