Help me with importing a STEP file in HFSS

Re: Help in HFSS Hi MrElec thank you so much for the imported model. But the model seems to be like, all the material, the conducting and the sorrounded casing (insulator) material, everything seems to be united and defined as one single material. but if I attach it to the mini SMP, the gold...

CPU , RAM , L2 cache for HFSS

select meshing technique to be AUTO or TAU Tolerant. remove unwanted spaces in the moel which is not used up for simulation. this avaoids meshing in those places in the 3d model which saves time.

Help me with importing a STEP file in HFSS

Help in HFSS Hello All EDABOARD members, I have a STEP file (which is 3d model) of a component which I used. When I tried to import it in to HFSS I am not able to do. If any one can import the step file, please import it and can you send me the HFSS file? This model I need it badly for my...

Explanation of insertion loss and return loss

Re: insertion loss i think thats not the case for return loss. return loss is the power reflected over power transmitted. so a -40db of return loss is better than -20 db. but this is not true for insertion loss. anyway thanks.

Explanation of insertion loss and return loss

Hi all, In PCB or in EM field, if insertion loss is 3db, what does that mean. is it 3% of the signal are lost because of the insertion of a device? Similarly 4% of return loss means what? More the return loss os good? Can anybody tell me? Mani

HFSS error: Failure in assembling radiation term

Re: problem in HFSS go to DRAW--> Region and draw region around the antenna. Then select that box and Assign--> boundary--> Radiation. This assigns a radation boundary around the object which gives the practical condition. if you use lumped port the port should be inside the box. make sure...

Interpolation Error in HFSS. Anyone have a solution for it?

Hello I am using HFSS for my PCB trace SI simulation. In my sweeps, the solver getting struck in one point at a particular interpolation error thinking that in that frequency convergence will occur. for example at freq 2.5 GHz where the interpolation error is 33%, the solver is thinking the...

Insertion loss plot not starting from zero in HFSS

I imported my brd file in to HFSS through Allegro and ansoft links. I did all the necessary changes and analyzed. Now I am getting more losses compared to the measured data. At 10GHz I am getting -8Db loss. One of my problems in that plot is the insertion loss plot versus frequency is not...

Pyramidal horn on HFSS, boundaries and excitation ports

Re: HFFS help!! the external boundary in HFSS is a perfect electric conductor, PEC. If you excite the horn with the lumped port at the face of the port then you need to create an radiation boundary because lumped port needs to be inside the structure. finally you need to create an airbox...
