why Ge is not used as substrate in IC Fab?

Hi~~

I've heard that the oxide quality for Si is best among all semiconductor material, thus, helping wafer fabrication very much, then, leading to a low-cost processing.

Isn't it the cost -- I believe the cost of germanium is about $3/gram.

as we know that conductivity of si greater than ge. and subrate plays a very imp role in current conduction so definately si used
