and then AVR...msp340
 

AVR -AVR -AVR

I had came first in touch with AVR (rather than 89c51)

I use AVR mcu in 8-bit series and dsPIC in 16-bit series.
 

8051 is simple an power full uC
simple downloader for ISP series
 

I prefer C51, but for long term i'll use ARM.
 

PIC series

why:
the + is:
First: very easy to obtain in my country...
second: very robust, even in harsh and electronic unfriendly environment (in my personal experience, i have a message scroller based on 18F4550 PIC in airtight box. exposed in direct tropical sunlight and rain. until now, after 1 year of non-stop 24/7 operation, it never fail)

the - is:
not as cheap as 8051 in my country :(
