lambda in MOSFET

lambda means "channel length modulation in MOSFET".

some book give me equation like " lambda = 1/early voltage"

but some book give me equation like below

"lamda = 1 / { early Voltage X channel length }

this equations make me confused... which one is it right ??

another qurstion :

sometimes I found that early Voltage in n-MOS and early voltage in p-mos

separately. there are displayed like that

n-mos early voltage : Ven

p-mos early voltage : Vep

what is means? they are different voltage each other?? why do we have to separate them?

Re: lambda in MOSFET

early voltage and lamba basically points to the same thing. the reason why they are defined differently is because 2 different groups developed them at different time.

normally the lambda for pmos and nmos are different. even nmos themselves will vary quite a bit depending on the structure of the transistor.
