From where can I get a free VHDL compiler(a student version may be).
Any links?

u can use modelsim from mentor
get a student version for free

What exactly are you trying to do? if you are trying to build sintizable design then go directly to www.xilinx.com or altera.com. otherwise modelsim is a good choise

you can download Libero for free where you can do everything you want... (optimized for Actel FPGA's) there is a version of synplicity included.
