In DDR SDRAM whats the excat use of the Data mask signal which will mask the data being written to the DDR SDRAM.

While doing the read from the SDRAM 2n Prefetch two data words (16bits) are read from two columns in the same row right where they are feed to 16bit Registers and it is divided into n bit data and given to multiplexer with DS (data strobe) signal right whats the use of Data strobe signal its a output signal from the DDR and given to the processor. Whether it will tell [0:7] or [8:16] ?

Re: DDR Sdram Data mask

the mask bit is use to make you can hidden some bits which you don't care!

DDR Sdram Data mask

hi,
strobe of processor is mask signal, to which DM signal of DDR-SDRAM has to be connected. strobe of ddr, or, dqs as it is called, is used as a source synchronous clock by the controller and the memory. in other words, the asynchronous interface of memory and controller use strobe signal(DQS) to send and receive data.
