Future chips will consume minimal energy are extremely fast, more challenging to design and more sophisticated eda tools will be required. happens in about a decade....!

we're in electronics era and we won't pass it soon.
next stage is electro-optic and then optical chips (<2020 or maybe 2030) and then spintronic chips and after 2050 Quantum computing. so I think this field has many years ...
most of these has been developed by EE Departments...
I Think new rooms has not emereged ...
