What is the Vref in ADC ?

im using ccs compiler and i dont understand the vref when using the project wizard

i just want to ask what is vref ??? and who can i use the wizard for analog to digital

converter to choose wihch ports are analog and wihch to stay digital(i know the same port can be analog or digital just how configer it's code)

also plz my friend said that he could send sms by nokia n70 using the pc then the pic

set adc port vref

Vref is the voltage reference for full scale input on the ADC. Or the max analogue input voltage level you can convert, inside the ADC input range. If you input a higher voltage the ADC will overflow.
