What is MRC validation in Std cell Lib design?

So, to move our private exchamge of data in public,

MRC validation is the cluster of check carried out by the fab after the designers have released the IC for tape out. After finishing MRC, then the fab comes back with suggestions or corrections and then you really release the IC!

MRC means Mask rule check. I found this in the inetrnet while searching. If anybody knows what it is exactly mean.
