what does "vias to be tented" mean?

Hello, everybody:

I find a requirements on the gerber file " vias to be tented" , what does it mean?

1) the vias need to be tented
2) the vias do not need to be tented

1) and 2) , which is correct?

A tented via has the via covered in solder resist.

for the requirement "vias to be tented ", I want to know if the PCB needs to be tented or not.

In short, my understanding for this requirement is "vias to be tented" = "vias need to be tented", am I right?

Yes, "vias to be tented" means they need to be tented i.e. have solder resist over them :???:

There are 3 types on this
1. Tenting
2. Plugging
3. Filling


Tent Through-Hole Via
Purpose: Cover both the pad and hole on one side of the board with non-conductive material

Plug Through-Hole Via
Purpose: Seal through-hole vias and maintain electrical access on both top and bottom annular rings, when possible.

Fill Through-Hole Via
Purpose: Plated-over through-via hole
