want to know basics of Synthesis

Hey all..

I'm totally new to ASIC synthesis. I'm just getting to know the synthesis flow slowly. Can anyone please suggest me any proper link where i can get more details about it? I want to know a general idea about every step in it, and also about the constraints we use(like why do we use constraints, what are used as constraints, how to identify what all need to be given as constraints, in what form do we specify them, how does it affect the synthesis etc). I'm using Synopsys Design Compiler.
