Hi,

I want to turn the attached colpiits oscillator which works fine into an Amplitude modulation transmitter, i know i need to add a tone generator somewhere on this circuit which will combine with the colpitts frequency to form an AM wave.

How do i do this without disturbing the colpitt's oscillations?

Please help, will appreciate your ideas.
Many thanks in advance.

Hi,

There are different ways to generate AM modulation but I'm not too familiar with them, so I'm just re-posting the schematic as a .PNG file for easier viewing. That said, it looks like the collector and emitter resistors are too large; I wonder if the oscillator really works (it may work in a simulation, though).

Thanks for posting the image - my phone seemed to be having trouble with the doc. My suggestion is to add another stage and do the AM on that otherwise I think you will have an AM/FM transmitter.
