Hi I need a Battery Protection IC for my system. I selected DS2784 from MAXIM. Just recently I found out that variants of this products are available in 2-wire interface also.

Both variants are supplying the same data at almost the same rate. I already have a 1-wire variant. But recently i found that 2-wire variant is also available. Please tell me what is the trade-off between the two ?

Which interface should I go with?
The IC will be close to my processor and for the power line there is a wire running down to a battery box.

I am more comfortable with the option which has less size of code, and is more hardware-based.Please suggest one.

Thanks in Advance
