They do neither. A variable capacitor is just a capacitor. You can put it in your previous oscillator circuit withAND DOES A TRIMMER NEED A GROUND CONNECTION TO VARY CAPACITANCE AS VARIABLE RESISTORS USE GROUND CONNECTION TO VARY RESISTANCE....?
