ASIC or FPGA for Space?

Which is the best technology for space applications: ASIC or FPGA?

Re: ASIC or FPGA for Space?

Few FPGA can meet space application requirement as most of FPGA base on SRAM technology.

Re: ASIC or FPGA for Space?

Space application requires Radiation-Hardened FPGAs or ASICs with CMOS-SOS (Silicon-On-Supphire) technology for latchup immune and very very low SEU (Single Event Upset).

Re: ASIC or FPGA for Space?

Both have flown in space, FPGAs more than ASICs because of volumes. In either case, the design must accommodate redundancy and recovery from latch-ups of all sorts.

delay (delayed by technology)

Re: ASIC or FPGA for Space?

ASIC is better than FPGA,

I think ASIC is more reliable.
