hi,

i have a macro which uses metal layers till metal4. Suppose i am using power meshes of metal 7 and 8 running over the macro. do i need to clip it compulsorly? wat are the advantages of clipping and leaving it to route over the macro as there are drc violations?

thankz

MACRO BLOCKAGE

I think may be to save area.

Re: MACRO BLOCKAGE

For most of the case, you do not need to clip the macro such as rom ram etc,
but you do need to clip the macro such as pll, cpu core etc.

Of course,it is case by case.

Re: MACRO BLOCKAGE

hai dude,

Advantage is macro are the most power hungers.

not only the area (area here is for routing purpose we get more area so no congestion) u r saving power too. IR drop will be less,

capacitance will be less becos of interconnect wire lenght is less.
