Suggest me a free/evaluation version ASIC design tools

I am new to digital design tools.
Can anybody suggest free/evaluation version asic design tools which can be downloaded or requested?

Alliance is a good Tool for ASIC,

U can go for Tanner or Magic tool also if u r interested in Layout.
U can find them easily on Net.

Alliance is a good but it does not support verilog well

in my digital design i use design compiler & first encounter but idon't know those best or no
