speed profile for stepper motor

hi,

i wonder if there is any application note on speed profile (or velocity ramp) generation for stepper motor using PID?

if there is such a method, please share with me..

www.microchip.com has an application example on speed profile (velocity ramp) generation for DC motor using PID. I think it usefull for you

hi, thanks for your reply. for DC motor, the speed profile is usually PID. but i'm wondering if PID is suitable for stepping motor ? as i've never seen any application note on PID for stepping motor speed profile..
 

Steppers are usually run in open loop............I dont think PID control can be exercised on them
