Hi All,

What are the inputs for Static IR Drop Analysis? how do you qualify the results? Explain in detail how do you solve the hot spots reported in IR drop stage?

Regards
Tachyons

Hi tachyons,

you need netlist and saif file as inputs for performing IR drop analysis... by specifying blockages and providing additional power straps you can reduce hotspots

cheers,
Pavan GS

What tools can check IR-Drops?

What commands are used to report IR-Drops?

How to understand from reports that the violations are due to IR-Drops and not due to something else ?

Thank you!

What's flow for the IR-Drop analysis in the PrimeTime? Is it enough to take the RC-extractions, which were derived for the same Process/Temperature characteristics, but for the different Voltages?

PrimeTime is used as signoff timing tool.

For IR EM drop analysis you need to use Cadence Voltage Storm or Apache-Redhawk.

Apache-RedHawk and VoltageStrom both are use for IR drop analysis. For commands, you can check command reference manual of the tool. IR drop tool gives output image in form of different colors. Each color refers to a voltage range.
