Timing analysis of Astro is different than that of Primtime, foremost....their algorithms would be different........the violations which astro cant detect ...can be detected from PT....
PT is only timing analysis tool.......as per my knowledge we can only check the timing in PT ....to implement the changes for removal of violations we again need to come back to implementation tool like astro.........
As p_shinde told , PrimTime and Astro have different timing engine(Algorithm) implemented inside.
PrimTime is supposed to be more accurate than Astro since it is a design signoff tool.

All the synopsys tools that are used for any kind of optimisation have inbuilt basic PT algorithems but th accuracy point of view the PT is good some the results that u have recioved from the astro and PT are same upto some significant digits.but PT is SIGNOFF for timing analysis.
Actually the timing engineer inside the PT and Astro is totally different, but any of the Astro release you are using is at least 92% correlated with PT(Synopsys internally will pass large amount of regression test cases before releasing, 92% is the number that they have to pass). If you want to get better correlation, move to ICC, it's far more correlated with PrimeTime compare to Astro.
Timing analysis feature of astro and prime time is not and cannot be same for two reasons.
1. No two tools from the same company can have identical features
2. Astro has some of the primetime features to quickly check the timing after routing. Primetime is a sign-off standard timing analysis tool
