Hi,

A shape pin is a shape you create to represent a pin

A symbolic pin is an instance of a predefined parameterized cell that represents a pin.

thank you, but could you tell me when to use a shape pin and when to use a symbolic pin, what's the difference?

Hi,

Usually we use shape pin in custom cell design and the symbolic pins are used in PNR flow.

Shape pin can be drawn in any shape; due to this feature we use this in our custom design.

Since PNR flow has more flexibility in handling instances than the polygons, so we use symbolic pin for PNR flow.
