Hello,

So I want to connect SATA to VIRTEX-5 RocketIO Transceiver.
Like I understand, it is best to use dedicated differential oscillator connected to MGTREFCLKN/MGTREFCLKP pins.

1) I'm having trouble to choose the oscillator frequency.
* Is it suppose to be exactly 150MHz or 75MHz?
* Is it ok to use other frequencies, what can be divided down to 25mhz/37.5mhz?

2) Another problem is that those oscillators are quite pricy, for 10-25pcs quantity.
* anyone know some cheap clock generator, what can convert crystal to differential clock? (for example ICS844071 appears to be more expensive than dedicated oscillator, so it is not an option)

3) What about the voltage?
* I don't understand, will it be important, what supply voltage has differential oscillator? For example 3.3V or 2.5V. (if it were ordinary oscillator, connected to GCLK, you just check BANK voltage. ¿? but here ?¿ :???: )

thanks for answers.. Or maybe just for reading this..

Best Regards

Use LVPECL std oscillator for reference clock..

Regarding frequency:Try to generate SATA core using Xilinx Core generator to get the supported ref clock frequencies..
