Hello,

Do anyone know the concept behind resonant regulators? I think this uses resonant frequency at its operating frequency. Any links or products in the market which uses this concepts?

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear alimjoco
Hi
I suggest you to read these terrific books (the resonant converter chapters of them) : Switching power supply design , by Abraham pressman . or : switching power supply cookbook , by Marty brown.

Vicor's whole business, pretty much, for starters.

The thing is, using resonant schemes you end up not being
able to do fixed frequency PWM and have to go to a PFM
scheme while paying care to the inductor/switch half-cycle
details. There are apps where this is fine, and apps where
having your chop note and its harmonics slosh around is
not (like radios).

Resonant design.

Its ok if your input voltage and load is fairly constant.

Otherwise resonant converters are of questionable use.

Very often designed with the designers CV in mind......nice to have a resonant converter in there.

-suffer increased manufacturing tolerances...generally expensive.
