Regarding to the MAX232 board

Is it possible to connect a DB9 Connector at the output of the MAX232 Board. Please any one can help me quickly.

For first circuit shard by tpetar, if you want to communicate between your PC and ucontroller you should use null modem connection, google it , its construction is simple.

Unless be powered by negative supply instead GND, 2nd circuit will not work due to RS232 standard voltage level requirements.

The capacitor in the second circuit is used as a negative charge pump

I remember a discussion about a similar circuit posed https://www.edaboard.com/threads/200678/#post844284 , there are some problems with is as FvM has pointed out.

I tried perform mentally a circuit working simulation and did not understand how this capacitor could be reversely polarized.
