Question about GSM battery charging using MAX1555

My GSM spike currnet is around 2A and average is 0.5A. my Li-Ion battery rating is 3.7v,2800mAH.

Now my question is will there be any problem if i keep the battery on charging which also powers the load. i am using MAX1555 charge my battery.
