Dac sampling

I guess this seems to be right forum to ask some doubts about DAC related doubts. If there is any specific board in this site, then please notify me. What is that the manufacturers are trying to mean by selling the DAC as 125MHz dac or 500 MHz dac where looking at the datasheets of it shows that the 125MHz DAC actually is all it's settling time of about 33ns,which seems to be it's limitation. it gives only 33MHz as maximun for it's samples to generate a sine wave..(samples are about 20). Any idea?
