problem with Compaq C794WU laptop..hedset(voice problem)

This is Shraddha...............
I have a problem with my Compaq C794WU laptop(VISTA)......
Whenever i am plugin my headsets in that....from my headset only backgraund music is comin not the conversation or u can say wordings (voice)......
and ha let me tell u.....my speakers are workin fine.....

Plz help me in this..............
HP centerwala is saying like.....this is related to port problem..so u hav to replace the motherboard......
But my Q is if it is a port problem then how the backgraund music is coming...why not proper voice(whispering like sound is coming)

but my headsets r working properly.....even i tried diff headset on my laptop...its not working...same problem.....
