Hi All,

I want to use a dual element or quad element pir in a car as part of an alarm system. sunlight is playing havoc with my plans and I was wondering if there was a way to filter out false alarms caused by sunlight saturation?

PIR with motion detector interference filter aren't sensitive to sunlight. The might react on objects heated up by sunlight.

Any PIR sensor generates a slow output whenever it "sees" a warm object. While using a PIR sensor at home can be set up to avoid objects heated by the sunlight, in a car it is almost not avoidable. Try to use rather an ultrasonic sensor, no problems with sunlight or high temperature.
