Hi,

I need to interface the usart interface of 2 pic (877) trought a tone generator/decoder, using a twisted couple. What is the best chip, and the best way to do it ?.

Tnx!

I think that the best way is to use two external PC modems, connect 877 to serial port to modem on boath side and connect modems via twisted couple. In that way modems will do all coding for error protection and you'll get your data on other side the same you transmit from first side.

Regards.

you can use sn75175 rs485 driver, I have tested it at 5 km at 9600bps with twisted pair

Tnx koky,

i'll do it with RS485 i think that is the best way and the less expensive.
