Hi all,

I want to know ,what '16' stands for in "PIC16F877A".

And also let me know for various families too..........

Thanks in Advance..

Hi,
Initially it was the length in bits of the of the program word
1K words program memory in fact is 2K Byte, Somethimes Microchip are cheating by comparing 2K words PIC with some other uP with 2K Byte program memory

Hi,
The various PIC families are:
PIC10F Family
PIC12F Family
PIC16F Family
PIC18F Family
PIC24F Family
dsPIC30F Family
dsPIC33F Family
PIC32 Family

16 here just goes to indicate the family to which the controller belongs.

Hope this helps.
Tahmid.
