Hello All,
I need to write a model for PCS. On the transmit path its only encoding (8b10b) but on the receive path it has allignment, deskew and decoding. Now the question is, does the model require allignment and deskew. I guess not. The model is only for verification purpose and for internal use.
Is it a good idea to just implement 8b10b encoder and decoder? Please suggest.

Hi,

If the model is for internal use and verfication u can directly use 8b10b encoder and decoder without bother about deskew etc.

But in real time the skew is elimated by PLL and some other logical techniques.
