Anyone has problem with left over etchant powder absorbing moisture and liquifies itself after about 6 month of storage? I bought a hand size bag but used only a fraction of it. I put the left over powder in a ziplock bag and 6month later I found out that the powder turned into liquid! I'm the powder absorbed the moister in the air.

thanks.

PCB etchant powder

Yes, ferric chloride is hygroscopic.

Actually, what you describe is deliquescence, I think, and ferric chloride is that as well!

Re: PCB etchant powder

You can still use it though so don't dispose of it. You have to dissolve it anyway before etching boards. It doesn't spoil by becoming damp, it just gets harder to store.
